COLFAX, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team, led by Jeremy Kieser (Sr.-Verona, Wis.), won the 2012 Blugold Invitational at Whitetail Golf Course today.
As a team, the Blugolds had a very strong performance with four runners finishing in the top eight. They scored 28 points while Lakehead University came in second with 114 and Luther College (Iowa) was third with 120. The last time the Blugolds won their home meet was in 2010.
Kieser paced the field of 308 runners as he finished with a time of 24:55.59. The second place finisher came in more than 22 seconds later.
In fifth place was Matt Wenaas (Jr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./McDonell) with a time of 25:33.35 while Adam Moline (So.-Maple Grove, Minn./Wayzata) was sixth with a time of 25:34. 56. Aaron Easker (Sr.-Eland, Wis./Wittenberg-Birnamwood) finished in eighth place with a time of 25:37.87.
Next Friday some Blugolds will be at the St. Mary's University Invitational while others will compete at the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota on Saturday.
