Kornack wins the shot put at Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa (Blugolds.com) – Members of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire track and field teams competed at the annual Drake Relays on Friday, with David Kornack (Sr. – Edgar, WI) leading the way for the Blugolds.

Results

Competing against student-athletes from all NCAA divisions, Kornack became the first-ever Division III athlete to win the shot put. The senior and DIII indoor national champ won the event with a toss of 19.38m (63-7). The mark is the seventh best in NCAA Division III history and makes Kornack only the third athlete to surpass 63 feet in the outdoor season.

Also turning in strong performances were the men's 4x100 relay team of Adam Lembke (So. – Waukesha, WI/West), Arik Skifstad (Fr. – Eau Claire, WI/North), Hunter Henk (Jr. – Beldenville, WI/River Falls) and KJ Munn (Jr. – Bayport, MN/St. Croix Prep) who were seventh (42.29) while the 4x400 team of Munn, Henk, Skifstad and Brandon Christnovich (Sr. – Holmen, WI) were 13th with a time of 3:14.11.

Erica Oawster (Sr. – Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) lead the Blugold women, finishing 11th in the discus with a throw of 46.57m (152-9).
