Three Track Athletes Earn WIAC Athlete of the Week Honors

MADISON,WIS.(Blugolds.com)-UW-Eau Claire men’s outdoor track athletes David Kornack (Edgar,Wis.), Kyler Lueck (Germantown, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and women's outdoor track athlete Bailey Waldhauser (Loyal, Wis.), were recognized as the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athletes of the Week, as announced by WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek on Tuesday.

Lueck won the 800-meter run at the Drake (Iowa) Relays on April 27. His time of 1:51.23 leads the NCAA Division III and WIAC. Lueck won the event out-running athletes from all divisions, including the second place finisher from Division I Purdue University.

Kornack became the first-ever Division III athlete to win the shot put at the Drake (Iowa) Relays on April 26. He won the event with a toss of 63-7 (19.38m). The mark is the seventh best in NCAA Division III history and makes Kornack only the third athlete to surpass 63 feet in the outdoor season. His mark of 63-7 is first in the NCAA Division III and WIAC. Kornack also placed 15th in the discus with a throw of 160-8 (48.97m).

Waldhauser won the high jump at the Saint Mary’s University (Minn.) Open on April 25, clearing 5-6 (1.68m). This mark leads the WIAC and is tied for ninth in NCAA Division III.
