Blugold Track & Field set for NCAA Outdoor Championship

INDIANAPOLIS (blugolds.com) – The 2019 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field participants have been announced with the Blugolds earning 26 total entries.

The Blugold women have 12 entries while the men have 14. For each men's individual event contested, including the decathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each women's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 16 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.

On the women's side, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) WIAC leads the field with 48 entries with the NESCAC (New England Small College Athletic Conference) following with 39. For the men, the WIAC is also the leader with 67 entries while the OAC (Ohio Athletic Conference) following with 27. The Eau Claire men are currently ranked No. 1 in the nation with four WIAC schools also in the top 10 (No. 2 Oshkosh, No. 4 Platteville, No. 8 La Crosse, No. 10 Whitewater). The Eau Claire women are ranked No. 6 in the country to lead WIAC schools with La Crosse coming in at No. 10, Stevens Point No. 14 and Oshkosh at No. 20. 

The championship will be held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, May 23-25. It will be co-hosted by the University of Mount Union (Ohio) and Greater Cleveland Sports Commission. This year marks the 46th outdoor track & field championships in NCAA Division III history.
