Three Blugolds Named WIAC Athlete of the Week

MADISON,WIS.(Blugolds.com)-UW-Eau Claire men’s outdoor track athletes David Kornack (Edgar,Wis.), Darin Lau (Eau Claire, Wis./Immanuel Lutheran) and women's outdoor track athlete Tommie Brenner (Reedsburg,Wis.), were recognized as the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athletes of the Week, as announced by WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek on Tuesday.

Lau won the 5,000-meter run at the UW-Platteville Invitational on April 13. His time of 14:21.81 is first in NCAA Division III and the WIAC. David Kornack won both shot put and discus at the UW-Platteville Invitational. His toss in the shot put of 59-8 1/2 (18.20m) is first in NCAA Division III and the WIAC. Kornack’s throw of 159-11 (48.74m) in the discus is second in the WIAC and 15th in NCAA Division III. Brenner ran 14.66 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles at the UW-Platteville Invitational. This time has her second in WIAC and 13th in NCAA Division III.

The men's outdoor track and field team is currently ranked No. 2 nationally and the women's team is ranked No. 12. Both teams will compete at the Phil Esten Challenge on April 18 & 19 hosted by UW-La Crosse.
