MADISON, Wis. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire had three student-athletes receive Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Kwik Trip Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Jan. 23-29. Men's swimmer Sam Ryf (Sr. - Berlin, Wis.), women's hockey forward Hallie Sheridan (Sr. - Fergus Falls, Minn.) and indoor field athlete Mitch Stegeman (Sr. - Coleman, Wis./Suring) were all recognized for their achievements.

Ryf won two individual events and was a member of two winning relays during a dual against UW-Whitewater on Jan. 28. He was a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay team with a time of 1:36.83 and the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:27.35. Ryf also won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.38 - a season best - and the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.34 seconds - another season-best time.
Sheridan accumulated five points across three games for UW-Eau Claire during the week. She served as the team's top facilitator in a 4-1 victory over College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) on Jan. 24, assisting three of the team's four goals. Sheridan scored two goals in her next outing, a 4-1 win against UW-Stevens Point on Jan. 27. She struck in the first and second periods to help the Blugolds pull away. They were her 11th and 12th goals of the season, which rank fourth in the WIAC.
Stegeman won UW-Stout's Warren Bowlus Multi and Open heptathlon with a score of 3,055 points. This score is No. 1 in the WIAC and No. 2 in NCAA Division III.
