Men's Tennis Falls In Season Finale

Chicago, Ill. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's tennis team competed in their 2021 season finale on Saturday. The team traveled to the University of Chicago for a non-conference dual. After falling behind early in the doubles matches, the Blugolds couldn't complete a comeback in their 7-2 loss. 

John Foley (So. - Wayzata, MN) and Matt Gilbert (Sr. - Minneapolis, MN/Washburn) kept things close at No. 3 doubles forcing a 15th game tiebreaker, The pair dropped the tiebreaker 7-1.  

In singles, Foley bounced back with a  6-4, 6-4 win over Chicago's Esteban Silva. RJ Griffiths (Fr. - Rogers, MN) would take home the only other UWEC win of the day at No. 5 singles, 6-3. 

The Blugolds finish their season with an overall record of 9-3 and a conference record of 1-1 under coach Brian Biernat in his first season.
