Men's Tennis Falls In NJAC Play To Warhawks

WHITEWATER, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's tennis team continued New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play on Saturday at UW-Whitewater. The Blugolds were unable to hold a close lead after their double matches, eventually falling to the Warhawks 5-4.

Results

Grant Mauthe (Sr. – Neenah, WI) and Adam Burk (Sr. – Forest Lake, MN/Totino Grace) got things rolling for the Blugolds with a win at No. 2 doubles with an 8-7 tiebreaker win. John Foley (So. – Wayzata, MN) and Matt Gilbert (Sr. – Minneapolis, MN/Washburn) took the team advantage with their 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

The high intensity during single match play would get the best of Eau Claire as they drop four of the six matchups. RJ Griffiths (Fr. – Rogers, MN) took home a 6-3, 6-4 victory at the No. 5 spot. Foley picked up the only other single's win at the No. 6 spot, 6-0, 6-1.

The men will be back in action on Sunday, April 18th when they travel to Rochester, MN for a match against Coe College. First serve is scheduled for 1 pm.
