Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com)- The University of Wisconsin Eau Claire Men's Tennis team earned a 7-2 win over UW-La Crosse on Friday April 12.
The Blugolds capatalized on a 2-1 lead after doubles play to go on and win five of six singles matches. Daniel Schoen (Brookfield, Wis/ Central) and Matt Christensen (Rochester, Minn. /Century) earned an 8-3 triumph at number two doubles to get the Blugolds started. Matt Gilbert (Minneapolis, Minn./ Washburn) paired up with Adam Burk (Forest Lake, Minn/ Totino Grace) at number three doubles, the duo defeated Mekdim/Parish (UWL) 8-4. Zach Janssen (Green Bay, Wis./ Notre Dame) kept momentum on the Blugolds side with a 75-, 6-2 win at number one singles. Christensen followed suite with a 6-4,6-2 victory over Wogahn (UWL) at number two singles. Grant Mauthe (Neenah, Wis.) earned another singles victory at the three spot, while Schoen and Burk won convincingly at the five and six spots, respectively.
