Elsah, IL (Blugolds.com)-The UW-Eau Claire's men's tennis squad earned a 6-3 win over Principia College on Saturday.
The Blugolds' bouncing back after losing their last four duals got out to a good start in doubles play. Eau Claire won two of three doubles matches, starting with a win for Zach Janssen (Green Bay, Wis./ Notre Dame) and partner Grant Mauthe (Neenah, Wis.) at number one doubles. The pair defeated Sovie/Dale (PC) 8-5, while Matt Gilbert (Minneapolis, Minn./ Washburn) and Adam Burk (Forest Lake, Minn/ Totino Grace) earned the Blugolds' second point at number three doubles.
In singles action Matt Christensen (Rochester, Minn. /Century) kept things rolling with a three set win at number two singles, with Mauthe also earnign a three set win at number three singles. Burk defeated Kenworthy (PC) 6-4, 6-3 at number five singles and Felipe Laporte (Curitiba, Brazil) earned a 6-0, 6-3 victory at number six singles.
