Tremble earns WIAC's Judy Kruckman Women’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete award

MADISON, Wis. (blugolds.com) - University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Alexis Tremble (Sr. - Muskego) has been named the recipient of the 2019 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Judy Kruckman Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Award.

Tremble maintains a 3.7 grade point average and is majoring in nursing. She was named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic honoree American in 2018 and is a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. In 2018, Tremble was inducted into the Nursing Honors Society (Sigma Theta Tau). She has been recognized on UW-Eau Claire's Dean's List numerous semesters and received a pair of academic scholarships.

Tremble secured the individual title at this year's WIAC championship to help the Blugolds secure their third consecutive championship. She is the fourth Blugold to win the individual crown at the conference meet. Tremble placed eighth a season ago and added a 14th-place finish at the NCAA regional to secure All-Region accolades. At the national meet a year ago, she contributed to UW-Eau Claire's fourth-place finish by placing 57th. Tremble is a team captain this season.

She is a member of UW-Eau Claire's Student Nurses Association and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Tremble has served as a peer mentor through the university's nursing department and a religious education teacher. She is a certified nursing assistant at Mayo Clinic, as well as a nurse intern at MyChoice Family Care.

Also nominated for this year's scholar-athlete award were: UW-La Crosse's McKenzie Kirtz (Sr., Adams, Minn./Southland); UW-Oshkosh's Ashton Keene (Sr., Pewaukee, Wis.); UW-Stout's Brittany Staab (Sr., Cottage Grove, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran); and UW-Whitewater's Sydney Prestifilippo (Sr., Westmont, Ill./Naperville North).

The WIAC Scholar-Athlete Award is named after Judy Kruckman who served as Assistant Commissioner for the WIAC from 1996-98. Prior to this appointment, she was Commissioner of the Wisconsin Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WWIAC) from October 1984 - September 1996. Kruckman was the women's athletics director at UW-Eau Claire from 1974-84, and one of the original representatives to the WWIAC when it formed in 1971.

In order to be nominated for the scholar-athlete award, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.50 grade point average. In addition, she must be in her last year of competition, or on schedule to graduate this academic year, and have competed for a minimum of two years.
