Women's Cross Country wins Luther Saga Cup; Men take 2nd

Decorah, IA. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's cross country team raced at the Luther Saga Cup invitational on Friday. The meet was hosted by Luther College. The Blugolds won the meet, scoring 27 points.

Liz Galloway (Jr.  – Mount Prospect, IL) was the overall meet champion. Galloway placed 1st with a time of 23:52.3. Galloway said that the snowy race day conditions on Friday were not ideal, but she was thrilled with the results.

Galloway said, "I felt like I executed my plan well and I was hyped about my first meet win."

Gina Behling, (So. – Brookfield, WI/Brookfield East) was the second Blugold to cross the line. Behling placed 4th with a time of 24:16.7. Maggie Louiselle (Jr. – Saint Anthony, MN/Totino Grace) placed 6th with a time of 25:26.5. Kylie Judd (Fr. – Anchorage, AK/AJ Diamond) crossed the line right behind Louiselle. Judd finished 7th with a time of 24:28.5.

Rachel Hirsch (Sr – Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central) finished 9th running a time of 24:31.4. Katie Faris (So. –) placed 10th with a time of 24:35.5. Abby Lewis (Fr. – Austin, MN) placed 12th with a time of 24:54.2, rounding out the top 7 for the Blugolds.

Galloway also said she was proud of all her teammates have accomplished this season, and their positive attitude going into the race on Friday.

Galloway said, "The snowy conditions of the race were probably the worst I've ever competed in, but our team does such a good job of not letting conditions get us down!"

Head Coach Dan Schwamberger said, "I was impressed with the way people competed in the snow and cold at Luther."

Schwamberger also said he's excited to see what's possible the remaining weeks of the season.

The Blugolds will race again on Saturday, November 16 for the NCAA Regional meet held at the Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, WI.
