Monson Steps Down as Women's Tennis Head Coach

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire women's tennis head coach Craig Monson has stepped down from the position due to increased responsibilities as CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin, Director of Athletics Scott Kilgallon has announced.

Monson coached the Blugolds for six seasons and helped the team tie for third place or better in the WIAC Championship each season. In 2006 he earned WIAC Coach of the Year honors after guiding the team to a second-place finish. He competed for the Blugolds on the men's tennis team in the early 1990's and earned his Bachelor's degree from UW-Eau Claire in 1993. "Coach Monson has done a tremendous job with the women's tennis program the past six years and he will be greatly missed by the tennis team and our staff," Kilgallon said.
