Women's Tennis Wins Again on Spring Break Trip

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team picked up another win, defeating Nebraska Wesleyan 7-2 on the third day of its spring break trip today.

The Blugolds dropped one singles match and one doubles match on the way to their victory.

At No. 3 singles, Gretchen Bachmeier (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./North) dropped just three games as she defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-0. Katie Gillman (Fr.-Red Wing, Minn.) also lost just three games as she won 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 spot.

In the No. 2 spot, Taylor Heltne (So.-Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) won 6-4, 6-2 while Emily Hiebl (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./East) won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4. Lexi DeMario (Fr.-Verona, Wis./Verona Area) had a closer No. 6 match but finished with the win with scores of 6-1, 7-6 (8-6).

On the doubles side, Gillman and Heltne won 9-8 (7-4) at No. 1 while Hiebl and Stephanie Wolf (Fr.-Verona, Wis./Verona Area) picked up an 8-3 victory at No. 3.

The Blugolds are now 9-4 on the season.

Tomorrow morning the Blugolds will face The University of Scranton (Pa.).
