MARQUETTE, Mich. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's swimming and diving team faced NCAA Division II Northern Michigan University today and had nine runner-up finishes but fell 165-78.
Diving, freshman Amanda Baker (Hudson, Wis.) claimed second in both events. On the three-meter boards she was runner-up with 230.10 points while taking second in the one-meter with 215.85.
Maggie Reilly (Jr.-Saint Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) was runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.89.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Grace Fair (Sr.-Monticello, Minn.) took second with a mark of 56.11 seconds.
Maddie Gray (Fr.-Roseville, Minn.) finished second in the 100-yard backstroke after finishing with a time of 1:03.99.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Lisa Reed (So.-Duluth, Minn./East) claimed second place with a time of 5:34.63.
Emily Behrens (Jr.-Faribault, Minn.) finished second with a time of 1:10.82 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Two Blugold relay teams also finished in second place.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Abby Meyer (Jr.-Apple Valley, Minn.), Sidney Fairbrother (Fr.-Maple Plain, Minn./Orono), Reed and Ashley Escher (So.-Watertown, Minn.) came in with a time of 3:55.59 while Sara Eggebrecht (Sr.-Abbotsford, Wis./Colby), Behrens, Reilly and Kristin Peters (Jr.-Farmington, Minn.) were second in the 400-medley relay with a time of 4:10.91.
Next Saturday, both the Blugold men and women will be at UW-La Crosse for a meet beginning at 1 p.m.
