Blugold Diver Nick Badilla Qualifies for NCAA Championship

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire men's diver Nick Badilla (Sr.-Appleton, Wis./North) has qualified for the 2013 NCAA Division III Championship after competing in an NCAA Diving Regional at Calvin College over the past two days.

Badilla was one of 10 men from the region to qualify for nationals after finishing in seventh place on the three-meter board with 478 points Friday night. He also took 11th in the one-meter dive with 434.45 Saturday. It will be the fourth time Badilla will compete at the NCAA Championship.

Also competing at the regional this weekend but not advancing to nationals was women's diver Amanda Baker (Fr.-Hudson, Wis.). She finished 12th in the one-meter dive with 404.05 points and was 17th in the three-meter with 337.30 points.

In addition to Badilla, swimmer Alex Card (Jr.-Prior Lake, Minn.) will also compete in three events at nationals, which will be contested March 20-23 in Shenandoah, Texas.
