Women's Cross Country Runs Away With First Place

DECORAH, Iowa (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team collected its fourth team first place title this season today at the Luther College JV Cup in Decorah, Iowa. The team had six Blugolds placing in the top ten.

Coming in first place overall was Clara Williamson (Fr.-Skokie, Ill./Niles North) with a time of 23:34.6.

Crossing the line next for Eau Claire was Michelle Brunshidle (Sr.-Hammond, Wis./St. Croix Central), who finished in fourth place and had a time of 23:54.8. Following just two seconds later and claiming fifth place was teammate Jami Riley (Jr.-Fairmont, Minn.), with a time of 23:56.5. She was chased by Sammy Stimac (Fr.-Antigo, Minn.), who grabbed the six spot and finished with a time of 24:00.6.

Dana Griepentrog (Jr.-Mequon, Wis./Homestead) and Ilse Renner (Jr.-Green Bay, Wis./East) finished in seventh and ninth places respectively, with times of 24:04.09 and 24:07.07.

Next up for the team will be NCAA Regionals, hosted by UW-Oshkosh. Race begins at 12 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.
