Dan Schwamberger Selected to UW-Stevens Point Athletic Hall of Fame

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire men's and women's cross country head coach and assistant track & field coach Dan Schwamberger will be inducted into the UW-Stevens Point Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday (Oct. 20).

Schwamberger participated in both track and cross country in his four years at UW-Stevens Point (years). As a track star, he was a five-time All-American and a three-time conference champion. As a senior Schwamberger won the individual national championship in the indoor 5K run. In his four years with the cross country team, Schwamberger was a two-time All-American honoree.

In his sixth year as a coach at UW-Eau Claire, Schwamberger has built an impressive resume. In 2009 he guided the women's cross country team to an NCAA Division III national title. The women's team finished in eighth place or better each of his first four years with the team and has led them to five straight conference titles. On the men's side, an individual or the team has qualified for nationals three out of his first five years. Individuals he coached in track have earned 21 All-American honors, 12 conference titles and have broke 13 school records. Schwamberger was the 2009 NCAA Division III Coach of the Year in cross country while he has earned WIAC Coach of the Year honors in women's cross country each of his first five seasons. Schwamberger and the rest of the individuals being inducted into the UW-Stevens Point Hall of Fame will be introduced at halftime of the Pointers' football game against the Blugolds on Saturday.
