Women's Swimming Defeated by Warhawks

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's swimming team hosted UW-Whitewater on Saturday, falling to the Warhawks, 112-150.

Allie Hable (Jr. Ankeny, Iowa) had an eventful day, finishing first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.81), third in the 100-yard freestyle (56.84).

She also finished second in the 200-yard medley relay at 1:54.65 with Sarah Tainter (So. Plover, Wis.), Sophi Tallard-Sklare (So. Middleton, Wis.), and Maddie Gray (Jr. Roseville, Minn.). 

Gray was also active all afternoon, finishing second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.52) and 200-yard backstroke (2:14.11), and third at the 200-yard individual medley (2:21.29). 

Emma Smith (Sr. Hales Corner, Wis.) finished second in the 1000-yard freestyle at 11:03.63, with Sidney Fairbrother (Jr. Maple Plain, Minn.) finishing third in the same event (11:04.76).

Fairbrother also finished third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:24.18), while teammate Lisa Reed (Sr. Duluth, Minn.) finished first in the same event (5:18.82) and first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.20).

Two other Blugolds finished first in their events, with Rachel Travers (Jr. Vadnais Heights, Minn.) winning the 100-yard backstroke at 1:02.12, and Elissa Hermsen (So, Waunakee, Wis.) winning the 100-yard butterfly at 1:00.95

Hermsen also finished second at the 200-yard butterfly at 2:14.35.

Tainter finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.65) and third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:12.50). 

Ellie Hostetler (Jr. St. Paul, Minn.) finished second in the 50-yard freestyle at 25.92, while Rachel Treadway (Jr. Cottage Grove, Minn.) finished second in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:17.67.

The Blugolds claimed two of the top three spots in the 400-yard freestyle relay, with Hermsen, Hable, Hostetler and Reed finishing second at 3:45.76 and Siri Smith (Sr. Baxter, Minn.), Shannon Rose (Fr. Racine, Wis.), Travers and Fairbrother finished third at 3:51.22.

Eau Claire will next compete in the WIAC Championships Feb. 19-21.
