LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's swimming and diving team traveled to UW-La Crosse where they lost to the Eagles 145-98 in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meet here today at the Mitchell Hall Aquatics Center.
Eau Claire swept top honors in the one-meter and three-meter diving events. Sara Axness (Jr.-Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) won the one-meter dive scoring 256.85 points. Axness finished 1.7 points behind Amanda Baker (Jr.-Hudson, WI) who won the three-meter dive with a score of 258.7 points.
Lisa Reed (Sr.-Duluth, MN/East) won the 500 and 1000 Freestyle posting times of 5:20.18 and 11:06.02 respectively. Emma Smith (Sr.-Hales Corner, WI/Whitnall) finished second in the 1000 Freestyle behind Reed finishing the race in 11:09.66.
Allie Hable (Jr.-Ankeny, IA) won the 50 Freestyle in 25.10 seconds. Elissa Hermsen (So.-Waunakee, WI) took second in the 100 Butterfly doing so in 59.99 seconds. Maddie Gray (Jr.-Roseville, MN) finished second in the 100 Backstroke with at time of 1:02.73
The Blugolds will compete one more time before the end of the semester when they hit the road for the Rochester Invitational. The event will run from December 5-7.
