Competition Concludes at NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

SHENANDOAH, Texas (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's swimmer Allie Hable (Jr.-Ankeny, IA) competed in the 100-meter Freestyle on the final day of the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships here today at Conroe ISD Natatorium.

The Blugolds finished 18th out of 45 teams scoring 40 points.  The next closest WIAC school was UW-Whitewater who finished in 21st place with a total of 36 points.  Emory (GA) won the team title with a four-day total score of 603 points.

Hable completed in the 100 Freestyle posting a season-best time of 52.64 seconds, breaking her previous best of 53.33 seconds set at the WIAC Championships.  Her time did not qualify her for the 100 Freestyle finals.

The Blugolds concluded the four-day event with three All-Americans in Hable, Sara Axness (Jr.-Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) and Amanda Baker (Jr.-Hudson, WI).  Hable earned All-America status in the 50-meter Freestyle where she finished in eighth place with a time of 23.64 seconds.  Hable advanced to the finals with a season-best time of 23.50 seconds.  Both times were Hables's fastest times of the season in the 50 Freestyle. 

Axness earned All-America honors in the one-meter dive for the second consecutive year earning a score of 434.60 in the finals.  Axness also competed in the three-meter dive where she advanced to the consolation finals placing 11th with a score of 417.15 which also qualifies Axness for All-America honors.

Baker also competed in the one and three-meter diving events.  Baker posted the highest score in the consolation score in the three-meter dive posting a score of 427.15.  Her ninth place finish gave Baker All-America honors for her efforts.  Baker also competed in the one-meter dive but did not advance to the finals.
