Soccer Falls to St. Thomas

EAU CLAIRE, WIS. (Blugolds.com)- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team looked to make it two wins a row, but fell 1-0 in a loss to the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) Wednesday afternoon at Bollinger Field.

In the first half, the Blugolds put the pressure on the Tommies. Eau Claire outshot St. Thomas six to three with five of those shots being on target. The Tommies defense prevailed, despite the Blugolds best efforts. In the 23rd minute of the match, the Tommies went on a counter attack and found the back of the net for the game's only goal.

In the second half, the Blugolds continued to fire shots by taking eight in the half. Again, the St. Thomas defense shut down the Blugold attack. Sammie Lefaive (So. -Coon Rapids, MN) kept the Blugolds in the game by making five saves in the second half.

On the day, the Blugolds attack was lead by seniors Tara Dennehy (Sr.-Eugene, OR/Churchill) and Ashley Seymour (Sr.-Verona, WI/Verona Area) who had five and four shots respectively.

Eau Claire (4-8-3) (3-2 WIAC) will be back in action on Saturday, when they travel to take on the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, game starts at 2:00 pm.
