Soccer Ties George Fox in Double OT

NEWBERG, Ore. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire women's soccer team finished out their road trip on Sunday night as they took on the Bruins from George Fox University at Austin Sports Complex. The Blugolds looked to notch their first win of the season, but instead they fought to the last minute in what ended in a 0-0 draw in double overtime. For the Eau Claire this is their second double over time draw in three matches.

From the opening to the final minute's horn, it was the Blugolds owning the time of possession. Eau Claire was constantly putting the pressure on the Bruins as they had a total of eighteen shots in the game, with six of them being on target. The Bruins were held to thirteen total shots, seven of which were on target. Sammie Lefaive (So.-Coon Rapids, MN/Coon Rapids) was stellar in the net as she played the entire 120 minutes and made seven saves for her first clean sheet of the season.

In the two half time periods, Eau Claire continued to try to find the back of the net. The Blugolds had a few opportunities to add a goal in the first ten minute overtime half. Offensively, the Blugolds were lead once again by senior Tara Dennehy (Sr.-Eugene, OR/Churchill) who tallied six shots on the day with four of them being on target.

The Blugolds, now 0-1-2 will return home on Wednesday, September 9th at 4:00 PM to take on Bethel University.
