Soccer Tripped up by Lewis & Clark

PORTLAND, Ore. (Blugolds.com)- The first of two homecoming games for Tara Dennehy (Sr.-Eugene, OR/Churchillwas ruined Saturday night at Griswold Stadium as the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team fell 2-0 to the Pioneers of Lewis and Clark College.

Eau Claire falls to 0-1-1 with the loss, while Lewis and Clark starts off their season with a victory. 

In the first half both teams played each other tough, as neither team was able to score. The Blugolds had three shots in the first half including one from Dennhey and one from fellow senior Caroline Henderson (Sr.-Duluth, MN/East).

In the second half it was all Lewis and Clark. The Pioneers' Emily Thompson notched the first goal of the game within the first two minutes of the second half. Quickly following up was Anna Thorndike, who increased Lewis and Clark's lead to 2-0, where it would remain for the rest of the game.

The Blugolds were lead by Dennehy and Jocelyn Etten (Jr.-Elkhorn, WI/Elkhorn Area) who both had two shots offensively.

The Blugolds will finish out their road trip tomorrow when they will face George Fox University before return home for their home opener against Bethel University on Wednesday, September 9th
