Box Score | Coach Yengo's recap

The Blugolds and Auggies were deadlocked in the first half. Both teams were excellent on defense as neither team could manage to sustain many attacks. The first half finished with both teams allowing just two shots on goal.

The second half was filled with much more intensity and urgency from both teams. Augsburg came out firing, but the Blugolds were able to continue to hold them off. The time was continuing to expire and it appeared as this would be another overtime match for Eau Claire. Just before the 83rd minute, the Blugolds got a break, resulting in a free kick. Eva Charlesworth-Seiler (Fr.-Golden Valley, MN/ Hopkins) sent it deep into the Auggies' goal box and after a series of headers, Shoua Khang (Fr.-Eau Claire, WI/North) used the bicycle kick to perfection to give Eau Claire the 1-0 lead.

The goal fired up the fans and the Blugolds. Eau Claire was still hungry for more and after another free kick; the Blugolds added a second goal off the follow-up boot of Margaret Sipe (Fr.-Eagan, MN/Eagan). The Blugolds held on to win 2-0 to add their second win of the year.

The two Blugold goals were just the second and third goals allowed by Augsburg all season, a squad who is ranked No. 14 in the latest NSCAA Coaches Poll.  Sophomore Sammie Lefaive (So. -Coon Rapids, MN) was stellar in the net for the Blugolds as she had seven saves on the day and gives the Blugolds their second straight clean sheet.
