Soccer Ends Trip to St. Louis on Disappointing Note

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team ended its trip to St. Louis with a 1-0 loss to second-ranked Washington University at Francis Field today.

The Blugolds (1-2) managed 11 shots on the day, four of which were on-goal. Washington's goalkeeper Clara Jaques stopped all four shots playing all 90 minutes.

The lone goal of the game came at the 18:26 mark from Washington's Julie Tembunkiart. Blugold goalie Amanda Hakala (So.-Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) stopped five other shots on goal while the Bears recorded 14 shots on the day.

The Blugolds faced two ranked opponents this weekend in St. Louis and fell by scores of 1-0 in both games. The game yesterday against Calvin College (Mich.) was the first time the two teams met. Today's game against the Bears was the sixth time the teams have met. Washington holds a 4-0-2 advantage all-time against the Blugolds.

Eau Claire will try to get back on track next Saturday when they face Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.). The Cobbers are currently ranked 14th in the nation. Action will get underway at 2 p.m.
