Rausch Headlines All-WIAC Honors as Co-Player of the Year

MADISON, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced the 2023 Women's Ice Hockey All-WIAC teams and individual awards on Tuesday as voted on by the league coaches. UW-Eau Claire's Sophie Rausch (Sr. - Fergus Falls, Minn.) was named Kwik Trip Co-Player of the Year and five other Blugolds earned All-WIAC honors.

Sophie Rausch is the third Blugold to receive the honor, joining Courtney Wittig (2019) and Erin Connolly (2020). She leads the WIAC – and established single-season program records – with 32 goals and 49 points. Rausch also owns a conference-best 12 power-play goals, while ranking second with 137 shots and eighth with 17 assists. She recorded hat tricks against Hamline University (Minn.) on Dec. 6, 2022, and College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) on Jan. 24.

Also named to the All-WIAC First team was Emily Hart (Sr. - Red Wing, Minn.), Stephanie Martin (Sr. - Yorktown, Va./Tabb), Sami Scherling (Sr. - Rogers, Minn.), and Hallie Sheridan (Sr. - Fergus Falls, Minn.). Olivia Smallbrock (Sr. - Kasson, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville) earned a spot on the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

An All-Sportsmanship Team was chosen for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each school.
