EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team was back at home on Wednesday evening for a nonconference matchup with Augsburg University. Despite outshooting the Auggies in 65 minutes of play, the Blugolds skated to a 2-2 tie at home.

Box Score

UW-Eau Claire found themselves with an early deficit as Augsburg found the first tally five minutes into the contest. Taylar Meier (Jr. – River Falls, Wis./Columbine) found the equalizer just 68 seconds later with an assist from Emily Hart (Sr. – Red Wing, Minn.) to tie the game at 1-1. Both teams combined for 19 penalty minutes on eight assessed fouls. Eau Claire kept their defense tight as they didn't allow a single goal during their four penalty kills.

In the second period, Augsburg once again found the tiebreaker; this time at the 13:22 mark. Sophie Rausch (Sr. – Fergus Falls, Minn.) found Eau Claire's answer minutes later on the powerplay with her 21st goal of the season. Rausch' sixth powerplay goal of the year was assisted by Hallie Sheridan (Sr. – Fergus Falls, Minn.) and Emily Hart.

No goals in the third period or the overtime frame led to both squads finishing the evening with a 2-2 tie. Stephanie Martin (Sr. – Yorktown, Va./Tabb) stopped 24 of the 26 shots she faced in her first tie of the year. Martin's record moves to 11-2-1 on the season.
