Women's Golf Tied for Third after Round One of SMSU Invite

MARSHALL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team is tied for third place out of 15 teams after round one of the NCAA Division II Southwest Minnesota State University Mustang Invite at Marshall Golf Club today.

While the Blugolds shot 315 today to tie with Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.), Augustana (S.D.) leads the field with 299 strokes and Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) is second with 313.

Sara Mattes (Sr.-La Crosse, Wis./Central) and Catherine Wagner (Jr.-Austin, Minn.) are both leading the Blugolds after the first round. They finished with 74 strokes and are tied for second place overall with two other golfers from Augustana. They are just one stroke behind the leader.

Tomorrow the teams will wrap up the tournament as golfers begin teeing off at 9 a.m.
