EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team won its final tournament of the regular season, the UW-Eau Claire Spring Invitational at Mill Run Golf Course.
The Blugolds won the two-day event with 656 strokes. UW-Stout, which was tied with the Blugolds after day one, finished second with 661. UW-Stevens Point was third with 721 and UW-River Falls was fourth with 795.
Sara Mattes (Sr.-La Crosse, Wis./Central) led the 24-golfer field as she finished with 161 to take home medalist honors.
Three other Blugold golfers finished ninth or better.
Catherine Wagner (Jr.-Austin, Minn.) was fourth with 163 strokes while Kate Engler (Fr.-Beloit, Wis./F.J. Turner) took fifth with 164. In ninth place was Maggie Lattery (Sr.-Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern), who finished ninth with 168 strokes.
Up next for the Blugolds is the NCAA Division III Championship, which will be contested May 8-11 at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
