Women's Golf Tied for Fourth at Invite

NOTRE DAME, Ind. (Blugolds.com) – Competing at 2011 O'Brien National Invitational, the UW-Eau Claire women's golf team is tied for fourth place out of 10 teams after round one at Warren Golf Course on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.

The invite features some of the top teams in Division III. Nine of the 10 teams competing in this year's invite are ranked 11th or better according to the National Golf Coaches Association preseason poll.

Leading after the first round is 24-time defending national champion Methodist University (N.C.) and Centre College (Ky.), which both shot 315. DePauw University (Ind.) is in third place with 317 while the Blugolds and George Fox University (Ore.) are tied for fourth with 323 strokes.

Five individuals are tied for first place after finished with 76 strokes in the 62-golfer field.

Leading the Blugolds is Catherine Wagner (Jr.-Austin, Minn.) with 77 strokes. She is tied for sixth place overall. A total of four Blugolds are currently in 24th place or better.

The invite will conclude Monday.
