Women's Golf Finishes Third at IWU Spring Fling

NORMAL, Ill. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team opened spring competition this weekend by taking third place out of 18 teams at the Illinois Wesleyan University Spring Fling at Ironwood Golf Course.

The Blugolds finished with 655 strokes while DePauw University won with 634. Centre College took second with 637.

DePauw's Taylor Beaty took home medalist honors as she finished with 152 strokes, four ahead of the second place finisher.

Leading Eau Claire was Sara Mattes (Sr.-La Crosse, Wis./Central), who tied for sixth place with 160 strokes.

Also finishing in the top 20 for the Blugolds were Catherine Wagner (Jr.-Austin, Minn.) who tied for 13th with 163 strokes and Emily Swift (Sr.-Onalaska, Wis.), who tied for 20th with 165.

Next weekend, the Blugolds will be at the two-day Wartburg Spring Invitational at Centennial Oaks Golf Club in Waverly, Iowa.
