MUSTANG INVITE HISTORY
MARSHALL, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State University women's golf team will host the 14th annual Mustang Invitational this Saturday, Sept. 24, and Sunday, Sept. 25, at the 5,936-yard, par 72 Marshall Golf Club. The 36-hole invite begins at 12 p.m. on Saturday with 18 holes and will conclude with the final round beginning on Sunday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
A total of 95 golfers are expected to compete from 15 teams including Southwest Minnesota State; Augustana; Bemidji State; Black Hills State; Concordia (Moorhead); Gustavus; Minnesota State; Minnesota, Crookston; MSU Moorhead; Minot State; St. Cloud State; Sioux Falls; Wayne State; Winona State and Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Augustana won last season's tournament with a score of 617 (+49). Randi Ono from Hawaii-Hilo and Katie Schenfeld from Gustavus shared the individual title with an 8-over-par 150.
SMSU has won the team title twice (2000 & 2005) during the 13-year history of the invitational.
This will be the sixth competition for SMSU this fall. The Mustangs last competed on Sept. 18-19, taking home fourth place at the 12-team Concordia University Invite in Lake Elmo, Minn.
