Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team hosted game 2 of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship (presented by Culver's) semifinal round. After winning game 1 a night earlier, the Blugolds kept the dominant pressure through three periods of play to earn a 2-0 win.

Box Score

The Blugolds would stick to their script by striking first on home ice just before the halfway mark of the first period. Tyler Tomberlin (Sr. – Andover, MN) would redirect a blast from the point into the bottom corner for his fourth goal of the season.

In the second period, Jon Richards (Jr. - Callaway, MN/Detroit Lakes) would add to the lead after putting home a rebound out front for his third goal in the semifinal series. It would be his 12th goal and 28th point of the season.

The final frame would combine a strong Blugold defensive and plenty of speed as Eau Claire would hold on for the 2-0 victory.

Goaltender Zach Dyment (Jr. – Abbotsford, BC/Yale Secondary) stopped all 25 shots he faced for his sixth shutout of the year. Dyment improves to 18-3-2.

The Blugolds will compete in the WIAC Championship game on Saturday, March 7th , in against UW-Stevens Point in Stevens Point, WI. Puck drop has yet to be announced.
