MOORHEAD, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team hit the road for a nonconference matchup against Concordia-Moorhead on Friday. After a slow start for the Blugolds they would erupt for six goals in the final two periods to secure a 7-2 victory.
Eau Claire would trail at first after a Cobber goal at the 10-minute mark of the first period set them behind. It was then Matt Stanton (Fr. – Stillwater, MN) scoring the equalizer seven minutes later to regain Blugold control.
After the 1-1 tie in the first, Jarrad Vroman (So. – Lincoln Park, MI/St. Francis Cabrini) would score the tie breaking goal to begin the Eau Claire advantage.
From there Jake Bresser (Sr. – Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) would add two goals of his own along with goals by defensemen Logan Von Ruden (Sr. – Northfield, MN) and Scott Munro (Sr. – Vancouver, BC/St. George's) to make it 7-2.
Goaltender Riley McVeigh (So. Calgary, AB/Rundle College) stopped 14 of the 16 shots he faced during the game. His season record now stands at 3-0-0.
The Blugolds will be back on the ice in Moorhead for another matchup against the Cobbers on Saturday, January 18th. Puck drop is scheduled for 2PM.
