Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The No. 4 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey continued Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Friday as they hosted the No. 10 UW-Superior Yellowjackets in the first game of a two-part weekend series. After scoring in under a minute to start the game, the Blugolds would play a complete game in a 4-2 victory.

Box Score

The opening goal would electrify Hobbs Ice Center after Nathan Dingmann (Jr. – Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) would break past the Yellowjacket defense and put one past the goaltender for the early lead. The visitors would tie things up on the powerplay after an Eau Claire too many skaters penalty.

In the second period, the Blugolds would skate away a bit after back to back goals from Andrew McGlynn (So. – St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers College) and Simon Sagissor (So. – Stillwater, MN). The goals would come less than three minutes apart as each forward would deke around the goalie to light lamp.

The Yellowjackets would cut the lead to 3-2 early in the third, but Eau Claire would hold their offensive and get the empty net goal from Derek Hammer (So. – Woodbury, MN/East Ridge) to seal the home victory.

Goaltender Zach Dyment (Jr. – Abbotsford, BC/Yale Secondary) would stop 14 of the 16 shots he faced to record his tenth win of the season. He is now 10-2-2.

The Blugolds will finish their two-game series with the Yellowjackets on Saturday, January 25th at Hobbs Ice Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7PM.
