EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team closed out their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference homestand on Saturday evening as they took on UW-River Falls. After a solid outing by both goaltenders to start, Eau Claire would pull ahead in the third period to solidify a 2-0 victory.

With no score in the first two periods for the second game in a row, head coach Matt Loen would have to rally his team around an aggressive offense to create some energy. This in turn would result in Loen's 200th win as head coach for the Blugolds.

In the final period, it was Nick Techel (Fr. – Wausau, WI/West) breaking the scoreless affair after beating the Falcon defense and netminder for the game's first tally. This would be Techel's third goal of the year and second on the weekend.

Shortly after, Adam Parsells (Jr. – Wausau, WI/West) would create space off of a faceoff and beat the goalie up high to increase the Blugold lead to 2-0. It was the second time all season the Blugolds entered the third period without the lead but came back to secure the victory.

Goaltender Zach Dyment (Jr. – Abbotsford, BC/Yale Secondary) would stop all 23 shots he faced to earn his eighth win of the season. His record is now 8-0-1.

The Blugolds will be back to WIAC action next week in a home-and-home series against UW-Stevens Point. Puck drop for both Friday and Saturday is scheduled for 7PM
