Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The No. 4 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team wrapped up their weekend series with No. 10 UW-Superior on Saturday. With heavy pressure and consistent special teams play all game, the Blugolds would come away with the 2-0 win.

Box Score

Entering the game, the Blugolds were 6-2-1 on the year after leading in the first period. Matt Stanton (Fr. – Stillwater, MN) made sure to keep those stats up after netting his third of the season a little over halfway through the beginning frame.

The Blugolds and Yellowjackets would both face separate five-minute major penalties in the middle period, but neither squad would break. The teams combined for 20-minutes of penalties for the entire game.

The 1-0 score line would continue through until the third period until Jake Bresser (Sr. – Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) would receive a pass on an odd-man-rush from Andrew McGlynn (So. – St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers College) and put it past the Superior goalie to seal the deal on the weekend series.

Goaltender Zach Dyment (Jr. – Abbotsford, BC/Yale Secondary) stopped all 25 shots he faced to record his fourth shutout of the season. He is now 11-2-2 on the season.

The Blugolds will back in action next weekend on Friday and Saturday as they host UW-Stout. Both games are scheduled 7PM. Friday is scheduled as Senior Night and Saturday the team will be celebrating Alumni Day.
