Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team hosted UW-Stevens Point in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday, skating to a 3-3 tie.

Box Score

After two goals scored by the visitors just five minutes apart from each other, the Blugolds would get their answer close to the 8-minute mark of the 2nd. Jake Bresser (Sr. – Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) would receive a pass from Austin Redders on the back door and put it past the Pointer goalie to cut the deficit to one. The goal was Bresser's 11th of the year and Redder's 2nd assist in just four games.

In the final frame, both teams would battle until the end with the Blugolds scoring twice in less than a minute to take a 3-2 lead. Andrew McGlynn (So. – St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers College) and Connor Koviak (So. – Canton, MI/Plymouth) would both get credit with the goals to put Eau Claire in front.

Those goals would not be enough as the Pointers would swarm the Blugold net late in the third and poke home a rebound to tie the game at three.

After regulation, the teams would battle in a 5-minute overtime period with offensive chances each ways, but both goalies stood tall to finish with a tie.

Goaltender Zach Dyment (Jr. – Abbotsford, BC/Yale Secondary) saved 23 of the 26 shots he faced and is now 9-2-2 on the season.

The Blugolds will be back to defend home ice on Friday and Saturday, January 24th-25th, when the host WIAC opponent, UW-Superior. Puck drop is scheduled for 7PM both games.
