Men's Golf Ties for Second at UW-Stout Invitational

MENOMONIE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team finished tied for second place at UW-Stout's Spring Invitational at the Chippewa Valley Golf Course today.

The University of St. Thomas (Minn.) won the event with 289 strokes while the Blugolds and UW-Stout took second with 291. The Blugolds also had a second team competing, which finished tied for eighth with 308.

St. Thomas' Michael Mortenson won medalist honors with 69 strokes, two under par, in the 55-golfer field.

Jamie Krula (Sr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chi-Hi) led the Blugolds as he tied for second with 71. The Blugolds had three others finish tied for seventh or better.

Jimmy Hutchings (Sr.-Hudson, Wis.) and Tyler Breitenfeldt (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) tied for fifth with 72 strokes while Ben Brooks (So.-Beaver Dam, Wis.) tied for seventh with 73. Breitenfeldt competed on the Blugolds' second team.

Next up, the Blugolds will compete at the Bobby Krig Invitational, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.). The tournament will take place Sunday and Monday.
