McCormick Leads Men's Golf to Fourth at Augsburg Invite

MINNEAPOLIS (Blugolds.com) – Led by Tim McCormick's (Jr.- Madison, Wis./Memorial) runner-up finish, the UW-Eau Claire men's golf team tied for fourth place on the final day of the Augsburg College (Minn.) Fall Invitational, the Blugolds' first competition of the season.

The Blugolds racked up a total of 601 strokes in the two-day invite, tying with Concordia-Moorhead for fourth place. St. John's University topped the field with 582 strokes, followed by University of Manitoba (Canada) and Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) for second and third places.

McCormick paced the Blugolds and finished second in the individual standings. McCormick's two-day total of 143 strokes placed him one under par for the invite. The winner, Josh Wytinck from Manitoba, finished with 141 strokes.

Freshman Blugold Sean Murphy (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) finished seven strokes over par – a total of 151 – for 25th in the individual standings. Jimmy Hutchings (Sr.-Hudson, Wis./Hudson) and Jake Brookshaw (Sr.- River Falls, Wis./River Falls) finished just one stroke apart with totals of 153 and 154, respectively. Ben Brooks (So.-Beaver Dam, WI/Beaver Dam) rounded out the Blugold golfers with a two-day total of 164.

The Blugolds' next event is the St. John's Fall Invitational. The two-day competition kicks off at 9:30 a.m. this Saturday.
