Men's Golf Second After Day One of Twin Cities Classic

RAMSEY, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team closed the opening day four strokes out of first place at the three-day Gustavus Adolphus College's Twin Cities Classic.

The Blugolds tallied 298 strokes, just four behind frontrunner Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.)'s 294. The University of St. John's (Minn.) second team rounded out the top three teams with a total of 300.

Tim McCormick (Madison, Wis./Memorial) led the way for the Blugolds, finishing with 72 strokes for par. His score tied him with second in the individual standings. Ben Brooks (Beaver Dam, Wis.) ended the day just one stroke back with 73, tying him for fifth.

Jamie Krula (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chi-Hi) and Jimmy Hutchings (Sr.-Hudson, Wis.) racked up 76 and 77 strokes, tying them for 15th and 25th in the standings, respectively. Jake Brookshaw (Sr.-River Falls, Wis.) rounded out the top five Blugolds in 38th with 78 strokes.

Competition for the Classic will continue tomorrow at the Elk River Country Club in Elk River, Minn.
