Two School Records Fall as Blugolds Compete at Last Chance Meets

LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's outdoor track & field team broke two school records as the team competed at two last chance meets Thursday and Friday.

At La Crosse on Thursday, the Blugolds broke two school records while two individuals won events.

In the 100-meter dash, Jordanne Greenup (Sr.-Fridley, Minn.) took fourth with a time of 12.09 seconds, setting a new school record. She broke her own record of 12.12 seconds, which she achieved last season.

The 4x400-meter relay team took third with a time of 3:46.97, breaking the old school record of 3:50.06, set last season on May 19.

Steph Sjostrom (Jr.-Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:17.12 while Julia Baranek (Sr.-Port Washington, Wis.) was first in the high jump with a mark of 1.63 meters (5-4.25).

Four Blugolds also competed Friday at the UW-Oshkosh Last Chance meet. Erin Schoenfelder (Jr.-Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.80 and Baranek won the high jump with a height of 1.69 meters (5-6.5).

Next up, the Blugolds will compete in the NCAA Division III Championships May 24-26. Nationals will be contested in Claremont, Calif. The complete selections to the championships will be announced Sunday.
