Women's Outdoor Track & Field Competes in River Falls and Platteville

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The fourth-ranked UW-Eau Claire women's outdoor track & field team competed at both the UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational and the UW-Platteville Invitational this weekend.

At River Falls, the Blugolds primarily competed in the heptathlon while most of the team was at UW-Platteville. In River Falls, the Blugolds took 12th place out of 15 teams and finished sixth out of 11 teams in Platteville.

Julia Baranek (Sr.-Port Washington, Wis.) had the Blugolds' top finish in River Falls as she won the high jump with a mark of 1.65 meters (5-5). Michelle Baranek (Sr.-Port Washington, Wis.) was fourth in the heptathlon with 4,113 points.

In Platteville, the Blugolds recorded eight top-five finishes, including three runner-up spots.

Kim Miresse (Sr.-Waukesha, Wis./North) was second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.85 seconds while Erin Schoenfelder (Jr.-Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) claimed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.91. Alyssa Sybilrud (Jr.-Savage, Minn./Burnsville) took second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:43.52.

Eau Claire finished with a total of 69 points in Platteville while Wartburg College (Iowa) won with 156.

Next Friday, the Blugolds will compete at UW-La Crosse's Phil Esten Challenge.
