Women's Outdoor Track & Field Takes Third at Phil Esten Challenge

LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The fourth-ranked UW-Eau Claire women's outdoor track & field team finished in third place out of 11 teams at UW-La Crosse's Phil Esten Challenge today.

The Blugolds finished with 119 points while La Crosse won with 162.83. UW-Oshkosh was second with 133.33.

Two Blugolds came away with event victories while a number of other finished well.

In the 5,000-meter run, Ashlyn Mauer (Jr.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) won with a time of 8:04.98, almost nine seconds in front of the second place finisher.

Kacey Rindy (Sr.-Fennimore, Wis.) took home the top spot in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 38:04.23, finishing more than 10 seconds in front of the rest of the field.

Next weekend the Blugolds will compete at three different meets, the Drake Relays, the Gina Relays and at Saint Mary's University Open.
