Women's Tennis Takes Third at WIAC Team Tournament

WHITEWATER, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team finished the season by splitting at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Team Tournament at UW-Whitewater today to finish in third place. The Blugolds fell 5-2 to UW-La Crosse, then bounced back with a 9-0 win over UW-Oshkosh.

Whitewater automatically qualified to compete in the NCAA Division III Championship for the seventh straight year by picking up two wins today. The Warhawks opened the day with a 6-0 win over Oshkosh and closed with an 8-1 win over La Crosse.

In singles play, Madison Rossebo (Jr.-Minnetonka, Minn.) was the lone Blugold to win both of her matches, competing in the No. 5 spot. She started with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win over La Crosse and then won 6-0, 6-1 against Oshkosh.

In doubles, Nicole Pothen (Jr.-Centerville, Minn./Centennial) and Paige Kuepers (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) won both of their No. 3 matches, 9-7 against La Crosse and 8-0 over Oshkosh.

The Blugolds end the season with a 15-4 overall record.
