Women's Tennis Closes Weekend with Win at Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team turned in another dominant performance over a conference opponent with UW-Oshkosh being Saturday's victim.

The Blugolds beat the Titans 8-1 at the YMCA Tennis Center in Oshkosh. The win moves the Blugolds to 4-1 in conference play, 6-2 overall.

Katie Gillman (Sr.-Red Wing, Minn.) had the most impressive performance in singles out of the No. 1 spot by losing just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory to improve to 9-2 on the year, 7-1 in dual matches. The Blugolds five out of six singles matches.

Gillman then teamed up with Maddie Johnson (Jr.-Lakeville, Minn./South) to win 8-1 in doubles competition, improving the pair's record to 5-2 in No. 1 doubles competition. The sophomore duo of Paige Kuepers (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Southeast) and Colleen McCullough (So.-Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo) also won their doubles match 8-1 in their first pairing together of the season.

The Blugolds will return to action Friday at home against Winona State at the McPhee Physical Education Center. The match will begin at 3 p.m.
