EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team was back at Simpson Field for their second home game of the weekend. While holding possession for most of the game, the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds took down the St. Norbert College Green Knights, 2-0.
The Blugolds would strike first in the 13th minute after Maggie Conway (Jr. – Mount Horeb, WI) scored her first goal of the season off a backdoor tap in into the back of the net from a corner kick sent in by Anna Kautzman (Sr. – Champlin, MN), The opening goal tallies as Conway's third goal as a Blugold.
The 1-0 lead would stand for another 71 minutes until Amanda Iverson (Fr. – La Crescent, MN/LA Crescent-Hokah) slotted home a cross from the left side to make it 2-0. Lilli Armstrong (Fr. – Steamboat Springs, CO/New Hampton Prep) and Avery Constant (Fr. – Chisago, MN/Chisago Lakes) received assists on the play.
Christian Casimir (So. – Kaukauna, WI/Xavier) and Anna Sveiven (Sr. – Blaine, MN/Centennial) both played 45 minutes each and both made three saves apiece in the 2-0 shutout. Casimir receives the shutout and earns he first win as a Blugold. Her record is now 1-0-0 on the season.
The Blugolds will hit the road on Wednesday, September 22nd when they take on St. Olaf (MN) in Northfield, MN. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 PM.
