Lau named WIAC Athlete of the Year

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Darin Lau (Sr. – Eau Claire, WI/Immanuel Lutheran) has been named the 2017 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year, based on voting conducted by the league coaches.

Lau is the second Blugold to receive the league award, joining Josh Thorson (2014). The Eau Claire native won the individual title at the NCAA Division III Championship with a time of 24:03.59, becoming the first runner in program history to secure the national crown. He also posted first-place finishes at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional and WIAC Championship (presented by Culver's).
