Men’s Cross Country Wins Luther Saga Cup Challenge; Lueck First Overall

DECORAH, Iowa. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's cross country team won the Luther Saga Cup Challenge in a dominating performance this past weekend. The Blugolds scored just 27 points, beating runner-up Iowa Central's 48 points.

The men took the top three overall spots. Winning the race was Dylan Lueck (So. – Germantown, WI/Wisconsin Lutheran), who completed the 8,000m course in a time of 25:59. Lueck joins the company of many past and current Blugolds who have won the Luther Cup, and his time was the fastest yet.

Finishing in 2nd and 3rd were Connor Dolan (Fr. – Nekoosa, WI/Assumption) and Tyler Kobilarcsik(Jr. – Chanhassen, MN/Chanhassen). The pair finished in 26:14, and 26:24, respectively.

Also turning in impressive performances were Alex Winn (So. – Kingston, WA/Kingston) and Chad Couser (Fr. – Rochester, MN/Mayo), who finished in 6th (26:38) and 15th (27:11).

Coach Schwamberger was excited about the the performances, saying it might be the best team performance ever at Luther for both the men and women.

The Blugolds who ran the JV Luther Saga Cup will begin the steady transition to indoor track; however, the top 8 runners will travel to Rock Island, Ill. on Saturday, November 11 to race in the NCAA Regional Championships.
